Weight-bias in Healthcare

13 March 2025

HCT has heard from people who have experienced weight-bias in healthcare in Tasmania and understands that this impacts the accessibility of health services and the care that people receive. We are keen to learn more about the experience of Tasmanians in larger bodies more broadly and are seeking to have a confidential conversation with those interested in participating. We will be interviewing people to understand their experience and asking the questions about what positive and negative experiences look like and how health services can better understand inclusion and accessibility for people with higher weights.  We will use this information to help inform our advocacy. Individuals’ names and any identifying information will not be included in any public advocacy.

In addition to the consultation interviews, we are also seeking people that may be interested in undertaking any consumer representation or advocacy as a person with a lived experience of weight-bias in healthcare.  At this stage, we have a couple of opportunities, so get in touch if you may be interested.

Please get in touch with Hannah Fielder for more information.

Remuneration via pre-paid debit card is available for sharing your experience with us.
