Free training in Health Consumer Representation and Engagement

Start Date

  • May 20, 2024

End Date

  • June 13, 2024

Health Consumers Tasmania provides free 3-hour training sessions for patients, carers, community members and health staff.

We have two sessions coming up next month in Hobart that you are invited to attend.

We run the sessions for health consumers and health staff separately as the two groups tend to have different concerns and questions. However the content we provide across both sessions via our powerpoints and education materials is exactly the same.

Please feel free to email kate@healthconsumerstas.org.au if you have any questions.

Patients, carers and community members

Date:   Wednesday 12 June
Time:  1pm to 4pm
Venue: Moonah Arts Centre, 23-27 Albert Road, Moonah, Hobart.

The training session for patients, carers and community members is designed for people who want to be a voice for health consumers and advocate for a better health system.

Key concepts we will cover include:

  1. Australia’s Charter of Healthcare Rights;
  2. the theory behind the health consumer movement, as well as what we are aiming for; and
  3. what being a health consumer representative looks like in practice, be it through government consultations or sitting on a committee.

This session is open to all levels of experience, whether it’s your first time learning about this kind of work, through to the seasoned operators who would like to re-connect. Health Consumers Tasmania aims to provide a safe, warm and friendly environment in which everyone is welcome.
