Central Highlands Consumer Consultation

Over the last two years, Health Consumers Tasmania has been working alongside the Central Highlands community to hear and understand their views about healthcare access in the region and solutions to improving that access, particularly since the loss of GP services in Ouse in 2022.

HCT’s initial consultation was funded by the Department of Health and has been undertaken through a collaborative partnership with Primary Health Tasmania and the Department. This consultation has region resulted in the below interim report, which highlights the experience of local people in taking care of their health and wellbeing.

We will continue to work with the community to progress solutions to access issues in the Central Highlands and thank them for engaging with us through this process.
