Chronic Pain Australia’s 2024 National Pain Survey
10 May 2024

A message from Chronic Pain Australia:
People living with chronic pain often fall into a vicious cycle of pain to no fault of their own. Which often results in feelings of isolation and a wish that healthcare professionals, decision-makers, and society could understand what they experience.
Our National Pain Survey is currently live, and we would appreciate hearing about your members’ experiences living with chronic pain or caring for someone with chronic pain.
This survey is made up of short multiple-choice questions. Each year, we use survey results to gather a national snapshot of the state of Australia’s chronic pain in the form of a digestible report. This report provides the foundation for our advocacy work to improve standards of care for people living with chronic pain.
We would greatly appreciate your support in sharing the National Pain Survey with your audience. To do this, we have created print and digital material, which you can find on our website here.
In 2024, Chronic Pain Australia will run events during National Pain Week from the 22nd of July to the 28th of July. National Pain Week 2024 aims to bring awareness to the vicious cycle of chronic pain. For people living with chronic pain, this means that they are living not only with physical pain but also with mental health issues, are prone to self-isolation and face stigma in the community.
National Pain Week 2024 will remind the community that connection is key to managing chronic pain. We will encourage people living with chronic pain to communicate with family and friends about their experiences to lighten the mental and physical load.
If people living with chronic pain share their voices with us and allow us to give them a voice, together, we can end the vicious cycle of pain and advocate for an increase in pain management services.
The 2023 National Pain Survey and National Pain Week were immense successes. The National Pain Report reached over 6.7 million people. We would love for you to join us in making a difference for the over 3.6 million Australians living with chronic pain.
