A message from John Pauley, Chairperson of the board of Health Consumers Tasmania:
As Chair of the HCT board, I am pleased to announce that Ellen MacDonald has been offered the position and has accepted that offer as the new Chief Executive Officer for Health Consumers Tasmania. Many of you will be familiar with Ellen and her work with HCT over the last two years. She has an extensive professional background in the community service and advocacy sectors, in community development, management and in governance roles. She is also a dedicated health consumer representative and lived experience advocate who cares deeply about consumer voice in health. She has worked over the last two years at Health Consumers Tasmania in the Community Engagement Manager and Acting CEO roles.
We look forward to continuing to work with Ellen into the future and congratulate her on the appointment as CEO.
A message from Ellen:
It is such an honour to be appointed the Chief Executive Officer for Health Consumers Tasmania. I am so proud to lead such an important organisation, doing work that is so personally and professionally meaningful. I know firsthand how essential the voice of health consumers is in creating safe and accessible healthcare in Tasmania and Health Consumers Tasmania plays such an important role in elevating that voice.
In the five years since the inception of Health Consumers Tasmania, led by the inaugural CEO Bruce Levett, HCT has grown and evolved and demonstrated impact in many ways. Over the past two months I have been working in the role of Acting CEO while HCT has been going through another period of transition and further evolution as an organisation. I look forward to continuing this journey, working with our dedicated and skilled staff and consumers across the state, where we remain focused on what is important – our strong partnerships and elevating health consumer voice across Tasmania.
