20 Year Preventive Health Strategy Exposure Draft

13 February 2026

For years, Tasmanians have been telling us that they want to see a health system that prioritises ‘staying well’ as much as it does ‘treating sickness’. The release of the Exposure Draft of ‘The Health Revolution’ by the Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, the Hon Bridget Archer MP, signals an exciting milestone and represents the culmination of a huge body of work that over 5,000 Tasmanians have been part of to-date. Since the announcement of a preventive health strategy that is intended to span over the next 20 years, Health Consumers Tasmania has been working in a number of ways to ensure that Tasmanians have a chance to make an impact, culminating in the continued support of a Consumer Advisory Group that supports the Department of Health to provide ongoing input into its development.

The Consumer Advisory Group seeks the input of more everyday Tasmanians to assist them in their role in providing further feedback on the draft of the Strategy. They seek to hear from Tasmanians through completing an online form with their thoughts on the document/s, what works and what doesn’t.

This opportunity to have a say is focused on people sharing their experiences as everyday Tasmanians, and hope that you might want to have some input into how staying well should look and how we get there.

If you want to have a say, but completing an online form isn’t for you, or you have any other questions, please get in touch with Sheridan Krysik via phone or email (details below).

If you are from a service or want to have input directly to the Department of Health, you can do so with the below details. The Department of Health is also undertaking some online consultations that are topic specific. Please see the link for more information.

How can you let us know what you think?

The Exposure Draft is the main document of the Strategy. You can access it at the bottom of the page.

Alongside the core ‘Exposure Draft’ document, there is also a set of draft sub-pillars, which outline the long-term direction and areas for action in more detail. We strongly encourage you to read these, as they bring together the underlying evidence, data, consultation insights and proposed policy directions, and set out the long-term focus and areas for action in more detail. You can access all of the pillar documents at the bottom of this page.

The Consumer Advisory Group is keen hear people’s perspectives on the document/s and encourages you to complete this either a short three question online form or the full consultation form that the Department of Health has developed. We wanted to provide both options in an effort to make having a say more accessible.

OPTION ONE:

Short Feedback Form- Round 2 Consultation on the exposure draft of ‘The Health Revolution’ – Fill out form

OPTION TWO:

Feedback Form- Round 2 Consultation on the exposure draft of ‘The Health Revolution’ – Fill out form

The information you provide will aid in informing the Group on their recommendations to Government about the final version of the Strategy. If you provide your name or contact details, they will be kept private and only used to keep in touch with you about the Strategy if you would like that to occur.

If you only want to read the ‘Exposure Draft’ document, this is completely fine and you can provide feedback about this or any aspect of the document.

You can also see more information about this Strategy and having a say on the Department of Health website: Exposure draft of The Health Revolution – 20-Year Preventive Health Strategy | Tasmanian Department of Health

Closes 27 February 2026

We thank you for your work to support the voice of Tasmanians in this important work.
