Join the Emergency Care Research Steering Committee and Help Shape the Future of Emergency Care Research in Australia and New Zealand

The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM), in partnership with the James Lind Alliance (JLA), is undertaking an Emergency Care Priority Setting Partnership across Australia and New Zealand. The project aims to identify and prioritise the most important emergency care research questions from both clinician and consumer perspectives, helping to guide research priorities over the next five years.
You are invited to express your interest in joining the Steering Committee as a consumer representative. The Steering Committee will oversee the project and help ensure consumer voices are central to the priority-setting process. You can learn more about the James Lind Alliance through this link.

What is involved?
As a consumer representative, you will be expected to:

– Attend approximately one meeting per month throughout the 18 month project.
– Participate in Steering Committee discussions and decision-making.
– Take part in the final priority-setting workshop.
– Contribute your lived experience and perspectives to help shape emergency care research priorities.

Please note that some months may not require meetings, particularly while surveys are open and no issues need to be addressed. Attendance will be reimbursed in line with ACEM consumer participation rates.

Who should apply?
You may be interested if you have:

– Lived experience of emergency department (ED) care as a patient, family member, or carer.
– An interest in healthcare research and improving emergency care.
– Previous experience serving on committees or advisory groups (desirable but not essential).

We strongly encourage expressions of interest from people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

* Why you would like to be involved.
* What you can contribute to the project.
* Any relevant lived experience, research involvement, or committee experience.

All consumers who submit an expression of interest will have an opportunity to contribute to the project, whether through the Steering Committee, surveys, priority ranking activities, or the final prioritisation workshop.
