EOI: Help Improve Information About Medicines
27 September 2026

Health Consumers Tasmania is seeking consumers, family members and carers to join a focus group for a project being led by Primary Health Tasmania. Your feedback will help improve a new consumer guide about “deprescribing”. Primary Health Tasmania want to make sure the information is relevant, easy to understand and useful for the people who will use it.
We’re looking for Tasmanians who may have experience of:
- Taking medicines regularly
- Having a medication review
- Stopping or reducing medicines (sometimes called “deprescribing”)
- Supporting a family member or friend with their medicines
What is “deprescribing”?
Sometimes people take medicines that they no longer need, or that may be causing unwanted side effects. Deprescribing is the process of safely reducing or stopping these medicines with support from a health professional.
What’s involved?
Participants will:
- Attend one or two online focus group sessions (approximately 1.5 hours each)
- Review draft materials and provide feedback
- Share their experiences and perspectives in a supportive group discussion
The total time commitment is expected to be up to 6 hours across the project.
To be eligible to be involved you must be available for the first online focus group on Monday 19 October 2026 at 12:00pm – 1:30pm.
Why get involved?
This is an opportunity to:
- Help improve health information for patients and carers
- Share your experience to makes resources more practical and useful
- Contribution to better healthcare in Tasmania
Payment
We value the time and expertise that consumers bring. Consumer participants will be paid $50 per hour for their agreed time, including attending focus group sessions and agreed time spent reviewing materials.
Who can apply?
We welcome expressions of interest from consumers, family members and carers and people with lived experience of medicine use, medication review or deprescribing.
