HCT Policy Advisory Group
The HCT Policy Advisory Group was established in October 2024 by Health Consumers Tasmania to provide diverse consumer perspectives and advice into the priorities, strategies and operations of consumer engagement and involvement across the State.
The objectives of the groups are to:
– Guide and contribute to discussions on the HCT policy agenda
– Provide opportunity to contribute to HCT advocacy efforts
– Elevate the advocacy efforts of group members
– Contribute to HCT consultations
– Enable group members to gain consumer representation and advocacy skills
This group is a diverse and collaborative working environment, in which each consumer representative contributes their unique perspectives. Over the last year the group has:
Contributed to HCTs:
o State Government Budget Submission
o HCTs response to the Tasmanian Government’s 20-Year Preventative Health Discussion Paper
Developed Policy Position papers on:
o Preventative health
o Partnering with consumers
o Health Literacy
Led other advocacy through:
o Beginning advocacy around scheduling issues for rural and remote consumers
o Through member attendance and presenting at HCT’s Voices for Health Summit
This group has demonstrated the opportunities in bringing together diverse Tasmanian health consumers and enables quick responses to key questions for consumers and Government.
If your service or organisation is seeking health consumer input and would like to engage with the Policy Advisory Group, please get in touch with Hannah Fielder – hannah@healthconsumerstas.org.au
