The Chinese Medicine Board of Australia is undertaking a public consultation on proposed revisions to the Professional Capabilities for Chinese Medicine Practitioners. These capabilities outline the knowledge, skills and professional attributes expected of practitioners registered under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme.
The professional capabilities were originally developed in 2013 when Chinese medicine became a regulated profession under the National Scheme, with a review conducted in 2018 and an updated version implemented in 2020. The current consultation seeks feedback on further proposed revisions, informed by preliminary consultation and sector input.
The consultation is open for six weeks from Thursday 19 May 2026, and consumers are encouraged to review the consultation paper, which outlines the rationale for proposed changes and includes the draft revised capabilities and supporting documentation.
Feedback can be provided via an online survey by 5pm (AEST) Tuesday 30 June 2026.
