The recent State Government Budget has delivered a significant win for the Dorset community, with HCT receiving $300,000 over two years to support the Better Health 4 Dorset (BH4D) Hub.
This important investment reflects a strong endorsement from the Minister for Health and the State Government of a truly community-driven initiative that has been making a meaningful difference in the region for the last two years. We extend our sincere thanks for recognising the value of this work and the impact it is having on local health and wellbeing outcomes.
Better Health 4 Dorset was born out of the Health and Wellbeing Network Project, funded by the Tasmanian Goverment in 2021, in response to a clear need identified by the community: improved local access to health services, and a trusted, central point to help people navigate an often complex health system. The BH4D Hub has become a practical and effective solution, one that is grounded in local knowledge and shaped by those who understand the unique needs of Dorset.
Navigating the health system can be challenging, particularly in regional areas. The BH4D model works because it is built for the community, by the community, connecting people to the right services, at the right time, in the right place.
We congratulate Better Health 4 Dorset Inc. on this well-deserved outcome. This funding recognises not only the success of the Hub so far, but also the dedication and persistence involved in establishing the service and advocating for its continuation. It is a win for the entire Dorset community.
Looking ahead, the BH4D Hub is excited about the opportunities this funding will unlock. Work will continue to roll out The Right Place Initiative, strengthening local service coordination and access. The team is also eager to contribute local expertise to the Health Revolution – the State’s 20-Year Preventive Health Strategy – ensuring that Dorset plays a key role in shaping a healthier future for people in the region.
