The Tasmanian Government is currently consulting on two key strategies aimed at strengthening midwifery care across the state:
– A Midwifery Workforce Strategy to support a sustainable workforce
– A Discussion Paper exploring opportunities to introduce public homebirth services in Tasmania

The Department of Health is seeking feedback from Tasmanians about their perspective on these two important strategies and have consultations open at present.

We have heard from many Tasmanians how important having safe and accessible midwifery services is, especially in rural and regional areas and encourage those interested to have a say, if they are able to.
